WOMB: “a sacred place of origination and development”
Pregnancy and childbirth is a very special time in a woman’s life. But let’s be honest, it’s also a very scary and overwhelming time from both a physical and emotional perspective. Many of us look back and think, “if I only knew”. Having the right support system during pregnancy and in the early postpartum days will help ensure that you enjoy the experiences and treasure the moments with your newborn, before and once they enter the world and into your lives.
THE WORLD OF MY BABY™: The WOMB grew out of the dreams of Birth and Postnatal Doulas, Lorri Fleming and Angie Stenback. Lorri and Angie started Halton Doula Group in 2007. They met for coffee one day and knew then that that day was going to be the beginning of an incredible relationship and journey. A partnership that would help change the lives of many women, their babies and families. They shared the same passion and philosophy for what they do. They knew that partnering together and working as a team, would allow them to better care for their clients and support each other in doing so.
Over the next 7 years the Halton Doula Group grew to include a tight knit team of 8 amazing doulas, 2 lactation consultants and childbirth educators offering not only doula support but breastfeeding support, classes, workshops and seminars, sleep support, fitness and parent coaching. Partnerships began to form with a chiropractor, naturopath, photographer and others. As services and partnerships with health care practitioners expanded, the need for a physical location became a realization of a dream fulfilled.
THE WOMB opened its doors in Milton, Ontario in June 2014. At 2,600 square feet, the centre houses 2 workshop rooms, 8 clinical rooms, an office, kitchen and living room, of which Lorri and Angie hope to create an environment that you feel welcome and at home.
Today, THE WOMB provides families with support, health and education from conscious creating, informed pregnancy, mindful birth and parenting in a non-judgmental, welcoming environment through self awareness, support, education and an integrated health care team. It is a center of excellence; a place where expert practitioners of health and research provide families with the best care possible and individuals come to receive tenderness, education and love.
