Emerging Mothers Program I

Emerging Mothers

Gather with other moms (and babies) to talk about the challenges, joys, and worries of motherhood.

Coming together is one of the best ways of understanding the transition into motherhood - by receiving support, providing support, taking care of yourself and your needs, and reconnecting with others, yourself, and those around you.

Topics include sleep, identity shifts, relationship changes, reconnecting or reframing your needs, body image, and recognizing important emotional processes, such as shame, guilt, fear, and anxiety.

Come and meet with other moms and social workers, Jennifer Lynne Walker (Milton) and Jane Scurfield (Burlington), to share your experiences and grow from connecting with others.

6 week series: $150 (may be covered by your extended health benefits)

Emerging Mothers II

Emerging Mothers II is a supportive group for moms (and babies) with other moms facilitated by a mom and counsellor. This specific EMII group is geared towards those moms who have "older" babies and those with more than one child.

It’s no secret that the postpartum period is a time of huge adjustment when mothers often question themselves and worry. Doing this alone or in isolation can be overwhelming and unrewarding.

Joining other moms and talking about the challenges, joys, and concerns of motherhood is one of the best ways of understanding this transition, receiving support, providing support, taking care of yourself and your needs, and reconnecting with others, yourself, and those around you.

Every week, we will discuss a topic that is specifically relevant to this transition, such as sleep, identity shifts, relationship changes, reconnecting or reframing our needs, body image, and recognizing important emotional processes, such as shame, guilt, fear, and anxiety.

Each class, you will be invited to share, to connect, to provide support, empathy and understanding, and most importantly, to understand yourself and grow through connecting with others’ experiences. Each class will also involve a reflection exercise to connect with the week’s topic in order to build on your strengths and gain new insight.

6 week series: $150 (may be covered by your extended health benefits)

Babies @ Play Program

Babies @ Play are supportive parent/baby classes where we talk openly about the practical health, sleep, and developmental questions you might have. You will learn about infant development, while practicing a variety of skills to promote your baby's development (think tummy time, rolling, crawling, etc) through the use of songs, and activities focused on baby. We'll focus on bonding, regulation and most of all having FUN! This is a place for you to come and play, while sharing and getting support on your motherhood challenges.

Kaili Ets is the founder and leader of the Babies @ Play class series. She brings her 12 years of experience as a pediatric occupational therapist and her advanced certifications in holistic sleep, reflux, sensory processing as well as her hands-on-experience as a mama of two, to her classes and her work with all her clients. Her approach is developmentally driven, evidence informed, and attachment focused and she loves to play and have fun!
