Whether you’re a seasoned massage therapy enthusiast or a newcomer to this form of healthcare, we’re delighted to welcome you! Our commitment is to provide you with high-quality and effective treatment that addresses your concerns and aligns with your wellness objectives.
As you embark on your massage therapy journey with our Registered Massage Therapist (RMT), the initial moments of your appointment will involve a warm greeting. For first-time visitors to The WOMB, the RMT will seek clarification on the Health History Forms you’ve completed, as well as discuss your treatment goals. This initial phase may include an assessment of your condition through questioning or orthopaedic testing, ensuring the delivery of an effective treatment in adherence to regulatory standards.
In addition to answering any queries you may have, the Health History, assessment, and the formulation of a treatment plan are essential steps to establish informed consent, a prerequisite before the hands-on portion of the appointment commences.
For clients presenting multiple symptoms, more discussion time with the therapist is to be expected compared to those with fewer concerns. A focused conversation with the RMT will help tailor the treatment plan to address specific issues comprehensively.
Once you and the RMT have agreed on a treatment plan, and consent has been obtained, you’ll be provided with privacy to prepare for the hands-on phase. This may involve adjusting clothing and settling onto the massage table beneath sheets and blankets, ensuring your comfort and modesty, as discussed during the treatment plan formation.
As you settle in, the RMT will use the time to begin treatment notes and ensure proper hygiene, knocking on the door before entering the treatment room. The hands-on portion adheres to the RMT’s scope of practice outlined in the Massage Therapy Act, focusing on soft tissue and joint assessment, treatment, and pain prevention.
Throughout the hands-on segment, the RMT will gauge your comfort level and may ask follow-up questions. Whether you prefer silent relaxation or conversation, your preferences are respected. Clients have the right to request changes to the treatment or decide to end it at any time.
Following the hands-on phase, you’ll be given privacy to redress. Meanwhile, the RMT will continue with treatment notes and hand hygiene. RMTs are mandated to maintain accurate records for consistent and effective care. The session may conclude with the RMT offering home care instructions, remedial exercises, or additional care recommendations.
In subsequent appointments, less time will be allocated to Health History clarification and assessment, allowing for a more extensive hands-on experience. Any changes in your health should be communicated to the RMT, ensuring care adjustments as needed. Our priority is to deliver knowledgeable, effective, and consistent care that enhances the wellness of each unique client. We strive to make your experience with Registered Massage Therapy both pleasant and beneficial.
